"To remain faithful to your life requires commitment and vision that must be constantly renewed." –John O'Donohue, Adam Cara
In reflection on 2019, mine was a year of solitude and contemplation. A soulful but quiet year. As a writer, I found a publisher for my Red Thread book and finished my novel. In 2020 I intend to get my novel published (finishing up final rewrites with my awesome editor and friend from Vermont, Anne Dillon.) I intend too, to write on my memoir about relationships. I will continue offering up this blog, write for the local paper and send out some poetry and short stories to contests. I have yet to win a contest. As your Writing Sherpa, 2019 was blessed with writing circles, mentoring writers from around the world, and coaching writers through the UW, Continuing Studies Pathway to Publication (P2P) program. Two of my writers landed publishers! Several of my writers completed manuscripts, several started their own blogs. The P2P program is offered now at the yearly Writers' Institute. Join us this March! I also facilitated my favorite writer's week at The 2019 Write by the Lake, and will be there again this June in 2020. I start out this year as your Writing Sherpa co-facilitating a yoga and writing retreat in downtown Madison this January 10th-12th: Mind•Body•Word. And on Thursday February 27th, 2020 at Healing Services on the River in Prairie du Sac I will offer my Live the Abundant Writer's Life day workshop, 9:00 till 4:00 . Email me for details or to sign up. I continue to offer FREE workshops and retreats, three which will be held this January and February 2020 at the Oregon Public Library. On the spiritual front for 2020, which of course for me intersects with my writing life, I will continue to explore the beauty of aging, develop the art of attention, and open up to what each day brings to my door. I won't rush through or to anything; I won't find fault; and I will rely on my long walks through Stewart Park with my dogs as a reminder of my true place in this world. Thank you for being part of my life. May 2020 bring to your door all that reminds you of your deep belonging to this wild and complex world we inhabit together. "When you are faithful to the risk and ambivalence of growth, you are engaging your life." –John O'Donohue, Adam Cara
