Hello. Welcome to my website. I have been a practicing therapist for over 40 years and mentoring writers as a Writer's Sherpa for over 25. I specialize in the treatment of anxiety, trauma, blocked creativity, life purpose, spiritual freedom, writing and thresholds. I appreciate the wisdom our emotional and physical body affords us in our healing and creative intentions. My training includes somatic experiencing, breathwork, yoga, journaling for transformation, CBT, mindfulness meditation, narrative medicine, ethical mentorship and ceremony. I understand that our collective well-being is determined by our personal well-being. I invite you to explore my offerings (some free ones!) to consider if my messages resonate with you. In our work together I help you align with your inner resources and with your whole experience through embodied counseling or spiritual mentoring practices which include embodied writing mentorship. Embodied practices give us the means to transform our pain stories to antidotes and art. Many have referred to me as the Writer's Doula. Discover your fearlessness and compassion. Drink from a deeper self, a self that will nurture and guide you on your truest path and give you the strength to make positive impact in the world. Contact me for a free 20 minute consultation to explore the possibilities. |

pick it up, and fill it with your own oil.
it is the stuff of you that’s meant to burn." – Rebecca Cecchini, Wisconsin poet

"Because our lives are full of forked paths, contradictory twists and turns, and frequent dead ends, and because we can sometimes forget who we are, we often need a guiding thread, a clue to help us successfully navigate our own particular labyrinths. Taking the thread of teachings gives us the confidence to reach our internal center as well as face our Minotaur, and then safely find our way back home to self, purpose, and community once more. This is what the everyday heroine looks like." –Taken from The Clue of the Red Thread

An endorsement from His Holiness the Dalai Lama (an excerpt from The Thundering Years):
“Because the very purpose of life is to be happy, it is important to discover what will actually give us the greatest satisfaction. Everything we experience, whether it is enjoyable or not, affects either our minds or our bodies. Generally, it is our minds that have the greatest influence over whether we are happy or not. Our minds register everything that happens to us, no matter how small. As free human beings we can use our unique intelligence to try to understand ourselves and our world. But if we are unable to use our creative potential, we lose one of the basic characteristics of a human being. In order to find mental stability and peace, the mind itself can be trained. We can cultivate positive attitudes like kindness and compassion, tolerance and contentment. Julie describes many ways to create peace and happiness, some on your own and some with your friends."
~ His Holiness the Dalai Lama, July 1995, for "The Thundering Years"
